START HERE FOR MORE LIFE BALANCE – Part 3 of 3

Picture
Ask yourself, are you satisfied with your physical health status? The status of your healthy thinking? Your emotional well-being? Your social life? Or, your spiritual life?

Overall, to have a balanced life is to have satisfaction in these areas. But, keep in mind that no ones life is perfectly balanced.

With Life Balance comes the right amount of self-care and connection with your world. You’ll have what you need to fully engage in activities that are required of you. And you’ll have what you need to engage in activities that bring you personal satisfaction.

In previous posts I suggested ways to identify how you currently spend your time and how you would like to spend your time. I suggested that you create a plan to close the gap between the two life experiences.

After creating your Life Balance plan, here are some suggestions to maintain your Life Balance.

SUGGESTIONS
a. Identify what you require on a regular basis to maintain your Life Balance. What do you need? How will you get it?

b. Set your priorities for how you’ll manage your Life Balance routine. What’s your plan to get what you need?
c. Follow your routines that honor your priorities. How will you hold yourself accountable?
d. Communicate your priorities to those who can help you stay on track. Perhaps a buddy-system?
e. Modify your responsibilities and manage your time more effectively. Will you enlist help, return a task to its rightful owner, abandon an unnecessary task, spend more time on a task, spend less time on a task, share responsibility for completion of a task?

START HERE FOR MORE LIFE BALANCE – Part 2 of 3

Picture
In Part 1 of this series, I suggested that:
1. Life Balance is a momentary (or longer) experience of being okay with the five important areas that make up our lives.
2. Those five life areas are your physical health, your healthy thinking, your emotional well-being, your social life, and your spiritual life.
3. Life Balance is not perfection, it’s “playing the hand that you’re dealt” and living your best life.

In this, Part 2, I’m suggesting that you identify those areas of your life that contribute to your Life Balance and imbalance. Keep in mind that any life event, from winning the lottery to losing a loved one, can change our Life Balance. “Life” happens to our lives every day.

Take some time to identify how you currently spend your time, how you would like to spend your time, and begin to create a plan to close the gap between your two life experiences.

QUESTIONS
a. Does your idea of a balanced life match your real life? What’s the one imbalance that stands out the most? What are you willing to do to improve in this area?

b. Which area of your life receives too much attention? Too much of your time?

c. Which area of your life receives too little attention? Too little of your time?
d. Develop your plan. What can you do to spend the right amount of time in those areas?

e. Who, if anyone, must be included in your Life Balance plan to help assure success?

f. What will you change right away (today) to have more time for what’s important to you?

g. What changes will take some time to put into place?

h. What situations cannot be changed and must be accepted? (“Play the hand you’re dealt”)

Part 3 of this series is planned for tomorrow.

Today’s lifestyle is filled with questions that some of us have never asked or answered. We’re facing new realities and new normals. We’re also experiencing losses and welcoming gains. And those gains, no matter how large or small, are meaningful to us and provide greater Life Balance.

What’s Life Balance? It’s that momentary (or longer) experience of being okay with the five important areas that make up our lives.

What are those five life areas? Your physical health, your healthy thinking, your emotional well-being, your social life, and your spiritual life.

Keep in mind that Life Balance is not perfection. It’s “playing the hand that you’re dealt” and living your best life.

So, my Part 1 suggestion for you is: Take a look at those five areas of your life and identify the one thing you’ll begin doing today that will lead you closer to living your best life?

My Transition From Psychotherapist to Personal Development Coach...

I was a successful psychotherapist for 30-plus years and I’m still licensed in my home state of Ohio. Two years ago, I made significant adjustments to my life and career and focused my work solely on Coaching.

Since then, I’ve been asked “how does that fit?”.

Truth is, some people participate in psychotherapy to help “clarify some things” in their lives and to find direction. For them. it’s a wonderful revelation to know that finding their inner strengths in times of trouble and gaining clarity about current life situations is not a sign of weakness at all. It's a sign of strength.

It has been said that the most effective coaches draw heavily on theories in psychology and skills-building methods. Both coaching and psychotherapy deal with behavior, emotions and thoughts.

I have learned that an important key to living an effective life is self-awareness. For this to occur, it often means a journey beyond our current life events and a focus on "why" those events occur. In coaching, I help identify “why” and support my clients’ development of skills to live the life they would like.

I encourage you to consider working with a professional who provides experience, wisdom and support -- and who also provides you with agreed upon methods of accountability to help encourage you to get things done.

And, of course, I’d like for you to contact me.

Would you like more information about my Personal Development Coaching? Or how about a brief, confidential, no-judgement discussion of your current situation? We’ll see if our working together is a good fit.

Contact my offices at (336) 999-4533 during regular business hours (Eastern Time) or email me at DonnaColes.Coach@gmail.com and we’ll schedule our “getting to know you” conversation.
